Truth be told it is far more common for cloisters, cabals, and gatherings of the minds to take place. Each wizard brings a unique perspective to the fold and powers of their own. Together they advance as a whole.
A Fledgling learns from an Apprentice whom learns from a master. A cycle of magic that has long spread through out the realms and the Transcendant Conclave is no different. Thayan, Local, Exotic, and magi from beyond the realms have assembled to advance themselves and the weavings.
It is only natural for them to pursue the young, nubile minds of the colony with tempting offers of research, power, and alliance.

Magic is a funny thing in EFU. Its left open to PC interpretation in a lot of ways and I've always been welcoming of that.
Sorcerers and Wizards have a special place in the conclave, and since its rise there have been quite a few who both allied with and against the faction.
I am hoping to put together two separate but equally awesome groups of PC folks with some binding ties to the conclave. Sorcerors in particular but Wizards as well, this could be a cool way for your character to get involved in magical research, meddling plots, and some very creepy and interesting PC interactions.
You do not have to have desire to join the conclave, nor do you have to be particularly liking of them, especially since conflict is always pleasant in EFU!
