In order to maintain the consistency and balance of the setting, we ask that people file a brief application on our forums when they wish to play an exotic character. Players should send applications for unusual backgrounds, such as involvement in a canon organization (i.e. a character who was a former member of the Harpers, or knew a famous NPC in the surface); special sub races; prestige classes; faction entrance; establishment of a group that includes NPCs and/or property; and any other special perk.

To file an application, go to the Submissions sub forum and make a new thread. This forum has been set up to allow only a thread's author and DMs to view individual threads, so don't be shy. Also, we prefer if people structure their applications according to this template:

Thread title: account name - primary subject - potential secondary subjects

1. GameSpy ID (the account you intend to play on)
2. A general idea of your playing times
3. A brief description of your character's history. Emphasis on brief!
4. Explicit listing of name, race, age, alignment, and class.
5. What you're applying for.
6. Your character goals; these explain what you will do with your character, if you're approved, and should also point out why it will be fun for not only you, but other players, to be approved. This is the most important section.

Finally, scroll down to the second last box in Additional Options and check the option to post a poll with your thread. Set the number of poll options to 2 and click the Submit New Thread button. You will then be taken to a new page where you can setup the poll. Fill in the fields as required with an Approve and a Reject option. If you forget to do this before submitting, you may still add a poll by selecting the Add a Poll option in the Thread Tools drop down in the top right corner of the thread display

Within a few days, your application should disappear from the Submissions forum. This means the application is currently being processed. If you notice your application remains in the Submissions forum for more than a couple days, feel free to contact a DM. Also, from this point onwards you will no longer have direct access to your application, so it may be a good idea to save a local copy of it somewhere.

When we have finished processing your application it will be moved to the Results sub forum with our decision appended to the title. We ask that you give us about a week to process an application, after which you are more than welcome to ask us for a status update.

Following this, you may approach us with any questions about our decision or help with setting up your character. The easiest way to catch one of us is through IRC, but forum PMs or an email works as well.
