Rules

Complete and detailed rules can be viewed here.

Rule 1 : Respect

All players must treat each other with OOC (out of character) respect. This means that you must remember there is another individual and person behind the screen you are interacting with. IC (in character) disrespect is completely different, and it is important to differentiate between the two. Players are fully encouraged to do bad IC activities towards other, as that is often the foundation of successful conflict and story-telling. IC activities will have IC repercussions and consequences, OOC activities (such as cheating, OOC insults, or OOC lying) will always be dealt by the DM team in an OOC manne

Rule 2 : Cheating and Exploits

Cheating and exploitation is not allowed, and is a bannable offense. This includes twinking (passing items from one character to another), abusing monster A.I. in unrealistic ways, exploiting bugs in the code, duping items, logging off to avoid death, and so on. This is a story-based server, if you want to do things like that please find another server. We have code to alert us to cheaters and will not hesitate to ban people for these offenses.

Rule 3 : Metagaming

Meta-gaming is not allowed. This means that you can not take advantage of knowledge that you as a player might have but your character does not. A very simple example of this is that although you can see what another character's name is through the tab key, your character can not. You as a player may know something about the setting through a source book, but your character does not. Always think about what sort of knowledge is IC (in character) as opposed to OOC (out of character).

Rule 4 : Powergaming

"Power-gaming" is not allowed. For the purposes of our server, we define power-gaming as any activity that has no IC rationale and is done for OOC reasons. It is okay - and even encouraged - to have a character that wants to get rich or powerful, and accomplishes this through various IC means such as founding a guild of thieves or becoming a merchant. It is not acceptable to perform an act such as repeatedly "farming" a single spawn of monsters or other such activities.

Rule 5 : Minimize Out-Of-Character Instances

Stay IC (in character). Unless your dialogue is in party chat or separated through ((dialogue)) or //dialogue, your dialogue is what your character is saying. This also means that you should play your stats. Having a stat that is below average should be incorporated into how you role-play your character. For example, a low charisma character might be socially awkward, have a weak personality, or find himself disliked by everyone he comes across. A low wisdom character might be easily tricked or go into dangerous situations without thinking. It is up to you determine how these stats reflect your character's personality and concept.

A dark, involving, and continually evolving game world where your character and interests have a real impact on the progression of the environment, as well as all those in it.
