Escape from Underdark brought you to the city of Sanctuary, a city founded by ex-slaves who had escaped the bonds of their captors and founded their new home deep down in the Underdark in the ancient and abandoned svirfneblin city of Dunwarren.

Alas, after 2-3 years of thrilling role-play and epic adventures to safeguard the city, Sanctuary finally met its hand and its citizens in need of a home. This tragedy, however, did not happen without a miracle to accompany it as the most courageous warriors and explorers of the city discovered a path to the surface. An ancient mysterious and dangerous ascension was to occur on this Way built by the Ilythiri (Drow) thousands of years before our time. It was then that the first pioneers of the Isle of Ymph appeared and found a strange set of ancient ruins to establish a new city within. Escaped from Underdark: Archipelago was now born and the struggle for survival continues in a new and interesting direction!
The focus is on a non-canon archipelago of islands located somewhere in the Shining Sea of the Forgotten Realms setting. New characters can begin their story as:
- A victim of the mysterious ziggurat who'se recent activity has been warping inhabitants from all over Faerun to this isle for reasons unknown.
- A recent shipwreck victim who ended up on the Isle of Ymph.
- A colonist from the city of Old Port who travel to the Isle of Ymph in order to achieve fame and fortune or flee an event of his/her past.
If you're unfamiliar with the Forgotten Realms, sourcebooks such as The Player's Handbook, Faith and Pantheons, Races of Faerun, and The Underdark may be very useful. You should also feel free to ask questions.
Although we do make an effort to stay canon in terms of the major aspects of the setting, we have invented and manipulated our own custom world to further develop the story-telling possibilities. We encourage you to read the following information to help familiarize yourself with the environment we have created to enhance your experience.
